ICF accredits coach education programs, and we have one program accredited at two levels, Level 1 and Level 2. Kun issues the program's completion certificate; the personal credential (ACC or PCC) is granted by ICF to the coach who applies and meets its requirements.

ICF is the International Coaching Federation, the body that accredits coach education programs worldwide and grants coaches their personal credentials. It has three, from the first level up: the ACC (Associate Certified Coach), the PCC (Professional Certified Coach) and the MCC (Master Certified Coach).

L1

Level 1

A program of 104 hours · your accredited education for applying for the ACC

  • What is it? The Professional Coach Education Journey, shown in ICF's directory as Somatic Thinking Coach Education by KUN Coaching Academy, accredited at Level 1, in three milestones: An Introduction to Somatic Thinking (6 hours), Individual Coaching Foundation (92 hours) and Your Identity (6 hours).
  • What do you receive? From Kun: the Coach Education Certificate (the Level One certificate) after the three milestones and a passed final evaluation, and a Certificate of Partial Completion for each milestone you finish. Mentor coaching (10 hours, 3 of them one to one) and the final evaluation are included.
  • What comes next? You apply to ICF for the ACC once you hold at least 100 coaching hours (75 of them paid, with at least 8 clients, and 25 of the hours in the 18 months before you apply) and pass its exam. ICF grants the credential once you meet its requirements.

L2

Level 2

A program of 138 hours or more · your accredited education for applying for the PCC

  • What is it? Level 1 plus one or more branches: Your Method (with Group Coaching, 138 hours), or with Organisational (141), or with Family and Couples after Group Coaching (158). You can begin Your Method directly, with no Level 1 and no earlier experience.
  • What do you receive? From Kun: the Level Two certificate once, printing your total hours, the Your Method completion certificate (138 hours) among them. Mentor coaching (10 hours, 3 of them one to one) and the final evaluation are included. For coaches heading to the MCC there is the Advanced Individual branch (106 hours, 210 in total), part of Level 2.
  • What comes next? You apply to ICF for the PCC once you hold at least 500 coaching hours (450 of them paid, with at least 25 clients, and 50 of the hours in the 18 months before you apply) and pass its exam. The ACC is not required first.

From Kun's certificate to your ICF credential

  1. 1 · Kun

    The program, 10 hours of mentor coaching, 3 of them one to one, and the final evaluation.

  2. 2 · Kun

    Your certificate: Level One or Level Two.

  3. 3 · You

    Documented coaching hours, during your education and after it: 100 hours for the ACC (75 of them paid, with at least 8 clients, and 25 of the hours in the 18 months before you apply) and 500 for the PCC (450 paid, at least 25 clients, and 50 of the hours in the 18 months before you apply). Sessions with volunteer clients count as unpaid hours.

Stopped before the end of the program?

Every milestone you complete stays yours as a Certificate of Partial Completion, showing its hours: 6 for An Introduction to Somatic Thinking, 92 for the Individual Coaching Foundation, 6 for Your Identity, and its own hours for each branch you finish. A coach who holds an ICF credential may submit it toward the hours of their credential renewal; ICF decides what it accepts. It is a certificate for part of an accredited program, and it carries no ICF mark.

Your hours stack on one certificate: after the three milestones and a passed final evaluation you receive the Level One certificate (104 hours), and when you add a branch you receive the Level Two certificate once, printing your total hours. The Family and Couples branch comes after Group Coaching. Certificates of Partial Completion on their own do not qualify you to apply for the ACC, because ICF asks for the whole program.

Our program appears under two listings: Level 2 at 256 hours, and Level 1 at 79 hours, which are the hours of its original accreditation in 2018. Your Method is the 138 hour path inside the Level 2 accreditation. The update of Level 1 to 104 hours is with ICF for review.
